Samsung undoubtedly produces the best quality and top of the range monitors out there. However, if you need to pack your Samsung Monitor away or if you’d like to remove your Samsung Monitor Stand to replace it with a new mount, you will have to take off the stand of the monitor. Fortunately, removing the base and stand from a Samsung Monitor is a simple task that can be done by yourself in less than 10 minutes.
Using this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to remove the stand from a Samsung Monitor. The instructions will be applicable to most Samsung Monitors models.
Samsung Monitor Stand and Base Removal Instructions
The following guide should work for all Samsung Monitor models including curved, rectangular or triangular bases.
Step 1 – Disconnect the Power Supply and Auxiliary Cables
Before you begin, be sure to unplug your Samsung Monitor from its power supply and detach any other cables from the Monitor (HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, etc.).
Step 2 – Lay the Monitor on A Flat Surface
The display of the monitor is fragile and damaging the screen is something you don’t want to do! So take extra caution when handling the monitor.
Lay a soft towel or microfiber cloth onto a table or a flat, sturdy surface. Place the Samsung Monitor face down on the towel or cloth, with the base of the monitor off the edge of the table.
This will protect the screen from scratches or being damaged as you remove the stand.
Step 3 – Removing the Monitor Stand Base
Have your screwdriver ready for the next two steps. There should be a screw in the middle of the underside of the base to remove it. Use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew it in a counterclockwise direction to remove it. This will detach the base from the monitor stand neck. Your’s may look different from the model in the image below.
Step 5 – Removing the Monitor Stand Neck (or Body)
This step is where people have the most trouble, but if you follow the instructions below you should have it out in no time! I divided this step into 3 methods – please see which on works for you.
Make sure you have removed the base from your Samsung monitor to give you plenty of room to remove the monitor stand neck (also called the monitor’s body).
Method 1:
For some models, at the top of the stand neck, check if your monitor has a hole or hidden tab in the center as shown in the image below then insert and press your screwdriver here and pull down gently to remove the neck and the base together.
Tip: Try holding the monitor with one hand and firmly pulling the neck down with the other hand if you experience any difficulty.
Method 2:
If your Samsung monitor does not have a hole or hidden tab, then do the same thing but use the screwdriver to “pry” the neck to push out and downwards. Be careful not to damage the plastic backing as you do this step.
Method 3:
If you Samsung Monitor has a swivel head, then you may discover that there aren’t any hidden tabs to press to remove the monitor stand body. Samsung has attached the stand with screws to the inside of the panel which makes it tricky to remove.
On the back of your Samsung Monitor, find a screw (or multiple screws) similar to the image below:
Use a screwdriver to remove this screw, which will loosen the back panel. Carefully lift the back panel to expose the internals of the monitor.
On the underside of the back panel there will be two screws which attach to the stand. If you simply unscrew these screws, you can then remove the monitor body.
This video explains this method:
If you have trouble at this step, try also looking at Samsung’s official support page and search up your Monitor model number for instructions.
That’s it! You have successfully taken your Samsung Monitor stand apart.
You now should have all the parts of your Samsung Monitor Stand removed so you can either place it away in its box or use an alternative mount.
